GET INSPIRED : Live with Ricky Kej

Music is one thing that drives people toward something that changes the world. Therefore, we at Engage - JAIN Online have brought the ideal persona "Ricky Kej" for our first offline event.

 

Get INSPIREd – Live with Ricky Kej was an interactive evening with Grammy Award Winning Music Composer and Environmentalist Ricky Kej, where he spoke about his inspiring story of how he works by using his art as a medium to protect the planet and inspire global citizens.

 

Ricky Kej is the youngest Indian to win the prestigious Grammy Award twice [2015 & 2022]. He has performed at prestigious venues in over 30 countries and has won over 100 music awards. He is also an Environmentalist who helped many countries from climatic disasters like Kiribati. He is a fantastic musician who uses his art to protect the planet.

 

The first unique offline event under Engage–Inspire started with the MC - Ms Nithya welcoming all the learners and thanking them for taking the time and attending the event in person.

 

The event commenced with The Seher Band's marvellous musical performance, which made the participants more enthusiastic and engaged.

 

Next, the session was taken forward by Ms Nithya, who introduced the 'Heart and Soul' behind Engage – JAIN Online; Ms Seema Vikas Gadiya and Mr Raghav Pissay. 

 

Ms Seema gave a brief overview of the Engage Platform and explained why they had started the Engage-Inspire Series. She shared plans for more such engaging events. 

 

Mr Raghav gave a quick tour through the Engage page and mentioned some exciting upcoming events like 'Cyclothon' and many more. Afterwards, Ms Seema took over the stage and introduced the Guest of Honour, Mr Ricky Kej. 

The floor was made open for the address by our guest of honour Mr Ricky Kej, and he took it to forward where during his speech, he spoke about his lifestyle, his conscious approach towards nature and also how he leads a simple and minimal carbon neutral life. 

 

He furthermore discussed The Kiribati issues, Elephant and Human conflict, and he also made the particular instrumental version of the National Anthem dedicated to all the living entities on the planet. He also shared multiple videos, which significantly impacted all the participants.

 

Towards the end of the session, he also interacted with the learners and responded to their questions. The questions revolved around his views on Veganism and how he converted from a meat eater to a vegetarian. He also mentioned that he has only 11 sets of clothes and does his quarterly carbon footprint audit. 

 

One of the participants pledged that she would refrain from buying new clothes for the coming year and stick to her existing ones. Mr Ricky Kej appreciated the idea and thanked the participants.

 

Ms Seema thanked Mr Ricky Kej for taking time out of his busy schedule to meet the JAIN Online learners and share his thoughts and wisdom. She thanked the management of JAIN Online for supporting the Engage Initiative and finally thanked the students for showing up in good numbers. Mr Ricky Kej Was felicitated by the organisers, followed by a Vote of thanks by Ms Nithya. 

 

Overall it was a successful event with engaging and interactive participation from the learners.
